Google early this month announced the creation of a new service that is currently in development. This service is called +1. With this serivce people will be able to rank search results with a +1 next to the url or any adwords that are shown. This is what Google likes to call a new evolution in search engines called the social search engine.

You will now be able to see what your friends think of links and others when you go and search for items. The theory is to create higher quality links to rank higher on the search engine based on social sharing. With Google's panda update many awful articles have been removed from being ranked on its search engine and replaced with higher quality articles. This is due to what many people think a new line in social networking. Where Google now ranks some pages based on the amount of likes and other social interaction going on with the web site.

What does this mean for SEO and SEM people. While some basic SEO still exist we are due for a major change where quality and social interaction are a must. This new high speed environment is what I like to call the new web 3.0 where social interaction and honest opinion and quality all come together to give searchers the best results possible.
